Rowing

Rowing

Light gold cirrus sprinkled the harbour,

Greeted sunbathing shipping containers.

Oars cut into the cool gleaming diamond

An eight legged insect –

We drove the quad.

Pair of little blue penguin's heads bobbed by.

We looked then rowed by in one straight line.

Cox,

One,

Two,

Three,

Four, we declared into air

And rowed

Trailed by the humming coach boat...

* * *

I stepped into the lagoon,

Little rocks climbed up my feet.

I lifted the boat,

Slim streams rained to concrete.

Breathed in the morning,

Washed and put the quad away.

Fresh to the lungs,

Blessed by another day.
